About Us

How does a tiny school in Vancouver produce award-winning actors with international careers and professional (and personal) renown in the industry and among their peers?

How?

The answer is that we are small and therefore can get to know each of our students and cater our well thought out curriculum to their artistic development. Another part of the equation is that we accept students who are: professional (or professional in demeanor), daring, witty, curious, thoughtful and intelligent. We screen each of our actors and make sure we are accepting artists who meet our standards.

Sanford Meisner said that he wished the stage was a tightrope so only the best could cross it. We agree.

Our final criterion is strong family support. Family support is extremely important to us. We train our young artists like they are artists. We expect greatness. We expect them to do well. They can not handle this success on their own. It can be heady and difficult to be the star of a show. That is a lot of pressure. They may have to move to Australia or Los Angeles or Montreal...or Saskatoon! They need support from family during this time.

We support our actors by teaching a curriculum that gives them an unshakeable foundation. They know the choices they can and must make and they know who to make them in a way that illuminates who they are as people: their own unique magic.

We teach actors to find their own light and let it shine. We believe, as Marianne Williamson wrote and Nelson Mandela spoke, “NOTHING IS GAINED BY PLAYING IT SMALL.”

Greatness is present in each of our students and we work with them to find that spark. They then let their light shine. No one has ever become truly great by being cookie cutter. True artists develop their humanity and share it with the world. True artists are who we like to teach.

That is how a little school manages to produce so many thoughtful, successful young artists. That is how we will continue to do it. This is our passion.
